Vascular Lasers

All across your body, cosmetic concerns can arise. These concerns can come in the form of a rosy red inflammation, known as rosacea, or be a result of your veins losing their structural integrity, causing broken capillaries, among other concerns. Whether it be a wart or stretch marks, developing these concerns can potentially lead to a lack of confidence in flaunting certain parts of your body. From your face to your legs, various cosmetic problems can become apparent for a number of reasons, including your genetics and lifestyle. While it may seem as though any of these cosmetic issues are here to stay – that is not the case. Vascular lasers exist to help improve their appearance.

Vascular lasers are a safe and proven option for treating abnormal blood vessels in the skin without damaging surrounding skin tissues. If you are a resident of San Ramon, Hercules or Livermore, CA, please contact California Dermatology Care at 925-328-0255 or visit our contact page to learn more about our vascular laser treatments.

Three to five sessions spaced four to six weeks apart are typically needed to achieve optimal results. Treatment with the Vbeam Perfecta can be performed at our Livermore office.

Excel V Laser

Excel V Laser cutera

The Excel V laser by Cutera utilizes a high-power green 532nm laser that targets abnormal blood vessels and pigments and gradually returns a patient’s skin to a more natural tone. The laser is precise as it features an adjustable spot size that makes it suitable for treating superficial concerns and deeper issues. In addition, the Excel V has an integrated cooling technology that comforts the skin before, during and after treatment. Excel V can treat mild to severe cases of rosacea, telangiectasia and cherry angiomas, among other concerns. The laser can treat skin types I-IV. We carry the Excel V laser at our San Ramon and Livermore locations.

Lumenis M22 Laser

The Lumenis M22 is an intense pulsed light (IPL) laser that can treat over 30 skin conditions. The treatment also features non-ablative skin resurfacing technology, which allows skin tone and texture to be treated in addition to your unique cosmetic concern. When the IPL laser is applied to your skin, it helps stimulate your production of collagen and elastin fibers. Concerns the Lumenis M22 can treat include birthmarks, keratosis, skin discoloration and spider veins. Two to six sessions within a two to four-week time span are typically recommended. Our San Ramon office currently offers vascular treatments with the Lumenis M22 laser.

KTP Laser

kip laser

The KTP laser is a unique laser treatment that uses potassium titanyl phosphate (KTP) crystal. The crystal is activated by an Nd: YAG laser, which is directed through the crystal to produce a wavelength of 532nm. The KTP laser can be used to treat a wide range of cosmetic conditions, including poikiloderma, spider veins, freckles, tattoos and epidermal melasma. The KTP laser produces dramatic results in as little as one to two sessions. We currently carry the KTP laser at our San Ramon, Livermore and Hercules locations.

Your Vascular Laser Treatment

During an initial consultation with your vascular laser provider, your skin condition will be assessed and which vascular laser would be best for treatment will be determined. During your treatment, you will be asked to either recline or lie down, depending on where the treatment site is located. You will be given protective eyewear that will ensure safety.

Your chosen laser will then be adjusted to settings specified to your concern, skin type and other factors, including the size of the cosmetic issue. The vascular laser will then be activated and passed along your treatment site. Depending on which laser is used, you may experience a sensation that is akin to a rubber band being snapped against your skin. This sensation is generally tolerable.

Once complete, an ice pack may be applied to your treatment site to reduce swelling and ease discomfort. You should avoid sun exposure to your treatment site for an extended period as your skin will be sensitive and avoid vigorous exercises that could potentially cause your blood vessels to dilate. After your recommended treatment sessions from the vascular laser best suited to your needs, you will notice your cosmetic concern gradually fade.
