Pregnancy, menopause and general aging can significantly affect the female body. Hormones fluctuate and body tissues become stretched and loose. Hair loss and vaginal laxity are two of the most common concerns that plague females as they age.

While some people think of hair loss as an issue that only affects men, numerous women know this is not true. Hair thinning can occur in women at any age and is generally due to genetics, but it can also be caused by certain medical conditions and hormone fluctuations. Losing your hair can cause significant distress, which only serves to result in more hair loss.

After pregnancy and aging, women often experience laxity in the vaginal and vulvar areas. They may not experience as much pleasure during intercourse, or intercourse may even be painful due to vaginal dryness. Their sex drive may also diminish and prevent them from initiating or engaging in sex in the first place. Bladder control problems may also occur due to issues with the muscles and nerves in the pelvic area that hold urine in, and leaking urine by accident can be extremely embarrassing.

Fortunately, Dr. Ting and our certified providers At California Dermatology Care offer non-surgical PRP treatments for hair restoration and vaginal rejuvenation.

WHAT IS PRP?

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is a treatment that stimulates regeneration using healing factors in your own blood. The platelets in your blood contain stem cells, growth factors and other components that promote healing and regeneration. Dr. Ting and our providers use platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to treat hair thinning, vaginal laxity and related pelvic concerns.

With this treatment, the platelet-rich plasma is taken from your own blood, so there is no risk of your body having an allergic reaction to it.

HOW DOES PRP WORK?

When the platelets are concentrated and administered to the treatment area, they promote new hair growth by reviving your hair follicles and lengthening the growth stage. They also help heal damaged blood vessels that carry oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles in the scalp for improved results.

For vaginal rejuvenation, the platelets delivered to the area signal a healing response in the tissues to revitalize them with new, healthy cells such as blood vessels and nerves.

WHAT CAN PRP TREAT?

  • Hair loss
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Vaginal laxity
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Reduced vulva sensitivity
  • Low libido (sex drive)
  • Painful intercourse

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR PRP HAIR RESTORATION AND VAGINAL REJUVENATION?

If you are experiencing female hair loss or any of the above vaginal or pelvic concerns, you might be a candidate for platelet-rich plasma treatment. Hair loss patients are advised to get PRP treatments at the first sign of hair loss. If you have significant hair loss, you can still undergo PRP treatments, but it will require more treatments and take longer to achieve the best results. You can also benefit from PRP hair restoration treatments before or after a hair transplant procedure. PRP makes the scalp more receptive and healthy for the transplants and can help the newly transplanted follicles grow.

At your consultation, Dr. Ting or another one of our expert providers will evaluate your condition to determine if PRP hair restoration or PRP vaginal rejuvenation can benefit you. Call or text us at 925-328-0255 to schedule your consultation today.

WHAT IS THE PRP TREATMENT PROCESS?

This painless non-surgical treatment is performed in our office in less than an hour. At California Dermatology Care, we offer a platelet-rich plasma treatment system that makes the process easy and efficient.

BLOOD DRAW

First, a simple blood draw is used to collect one to two syringes of your blood through a small needle in your arm. This process is similar to when you get bloodwork done for labs. The PRP system ensures your blood is drawn with gentle pressure that doesn’t damage the blood cells.

PURIFICATION

Your blood is then spun in a medical centrifuge that uses a separator gel technology to isolate the platelets and plasma. The majority of your red and white blood cells are carefully removed from the sample, leaving a nearly pure solution of concentrated platelet-rich plasma.

PRP INJECTIONS

Local anesthesia or numbing cream may be applied to the treatment area for your comfort. Using a fine needle, we then inject the PRP serum into the areas of your scalp with hair loss. For PRP vaginal rejuvenation, the serum is injected into the area(s) of your vagina and/or vulva needing regeneration (clitoris, labia, G-spot, etc.).

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECOVER FROM PRP THERAPY?

No downtime is needed after treatment; you can return to work and everyday activities, including sexual intercourse, immediately. You may, however, feel some soreness and increased sensitivity in your treatment area for a few days after your PRP injections and might want to take it easy.

WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT AFTER PRP?

PRP can provide the following results:

  • Hair restoration/new hair growth
  • Increased sexual desire
  • Enhanced sexual satisfaction
  • Increased vaginal lubrication
  • Improved bladder control

WHEN WILL I SEE MY PRP RESULTS?

After PRP for hair restoration, you can expect less hair shedding within three months and a fuller, thicker head of hair within four months.

PRP vaginal rejuvenation results begin to appear around three weeks when new tissues start to develop. You can expect to experience your full vaginal rejuvenation results within four to six weeks. Platelet-rich plasma injections can provide vaginal rejuvenation results that last a year or more.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Our specialists recommend that you undergo three PRP treatments over the course of three months for optimal hair restoration. Repeat treatments every six months to a year after that can help maintain your fuller, thicker hair.

For vaginal rejuvenation, you will likely only need one PRP treatment to achieve lasting results. You may wish to undergo a touch-up treatment every few years to maintain the best results.

SHOULD I COMBINE OTHER TREATMENTS WITH PRP?

Combining multiple hair loss treatments can sometimes provide the best results. We offer topical and oral medications, laser hair therapy, corticosteroids and diphenylcylopropenone (DPCP) treatment. Depending on your vaginal concerns, you may wish to combine EMSELLA, V-Lase and the Pink Intimate System with your PRP treatment.

During your consultation, we can determine the ideal procedure combinations to meet your goals.
