Despite the best skincare routine and consistent sun protection, even those with naturally flawless skin eventually develop signs of aging. Early aging signs may include skin dullness, dark spots and fine lines. These occur because our skin’s process of creating new, healthy cells to replace older, damaged ones (cellular turnover) slows down dramatically after our 20s.
What if there were a non-surgical treatment that could increase your cellular turnover rate to improve your skin tone and texture? With Clear + Brilliant, you can reverse the effects of time and environmental damage to reveal healthy, luminous skin.
What Is Clear + Brilliant®?
Clear + Brilliant is a gentle, non-ablative laser skin resurfacing procedure. This fractional laser treatment allows you to maintain or restore your youthful appearance for years to come by preventing and reducing signs of aging.
Clear + Brilliant provides a more youthful, radiant complexion, all without the dramatic side effects and significant downtime associated with typical laser skin resurfacing treatments.
What Are the Benefits of Clear + Brilliant® Laser?
- Gentle, non-invasive procedure
- Quick treatment times
- Minimal to no downtime
- Effective skin rejuvenation results
What Is Clear + Brilliant® Good for Treating?
Your skin will appear tighter, smoother and brighter after a single treatment. After subsequent treatments, the following concerns will gradually improve:
- Fine lines
- Acne scars
- Pigmentation issues, including:
- Dark spots
- Pore size/visible pores
- Dull skin
- Rough skin texture
How Does the Clear + Brilliant® Laser Work?
This laser creates hundreds of thousands of microscopic injuries in the very top layer of your skin. This process increases your skin’s cellular turnover rate and allows the younger skin below the outer damaged layer to show. At the same time, heat energy from the laser targets the deeper layers of skin and stimulates it to grow new collagen for improved skin elasticity.
Is Clear + Brilliant® Good for Dark Skin?
At California Dermatology Care, Dr. William Ting and our providers offer the original Clear + Brilliant treatment designed for fair skin and Clear + Brilliant Perméa for dark skin. The original treatment is more aggressive for signs of aging, while Perméa is geared toward pigment reduction to eliminate concerns like dark spots and acne scars.
What to Expect During Clear + Brilliant® Treatment
Before your treatment begins, we may apply a numbing cream to your skin to make you more comfortable. Your provider will then move the laser handpiece across your skin in the target area until the entire area has been treated. The Clear + Brilliant laser’s patented Intelligent Optical Tracking® ensures an even delivery of laser energy across the treatment area.
Each treatment will take about 30 minutes from start to finish.
How Many Clear + Brilliant® Treatments Does It Take to See Results?
A series of three to six treatments has been shown to provide optimal skin rejuvenation results. However, the number of treatments for your series will be based on the magnitude of your cosmetic concerns and your personal goals.
At California Dermatology Care, Dr. Ting or another one of our expert providers will develop a personalized treatment plan based on your needs.
What Happens After a Clear + Brilliant® Laser Treatment?
Immediately after your Clear + Brilliant treatment, your skin will appear red, similar to a sunburn. This redness generally only lasts for a few hours, but it can last up to 24 hours in some patients. While you can resume your regular schedule immediately, the following sections have more detailed information about what to do and things to avoid after your treatment.
Will My Skin Peel After Clear + Brilliant®?
After 24 hours, your skin will feel rough and have a gritty texture because of the dead skin on the surface. This skin texture will last for three to five days, after which your dead skin cells will begin to slough off and reveal the more youthful, smooth skin beneath it.
Can I Wash My Face After Clear + Brilliant®?
Yes, you can use a gentle cleanser and your hands to wash your face after your treatment. However, it’s imperative that you avoid manually scrubbing, rubbing and chemically exfoliating your skin. This includes using an electric cleansing brush, rough washcloths and any exfoliating products. Chemically exfoliating products include cleansers, toners and serums containing salicylic acid, glycolic acid, retinol and BHAs.
Allowing your dead skin cells to slough off naturally is very important for achieving the best results and preventing damage to your skin.
When Can I Wear Makeup After Clear + Brilliant®?
You can apply makeup products the day after your treatment.
Do I Need to Wear Sunscreen After My Treatment?
Always apply sunscreen if you are going out during the day, as your skin will be extra sensitive to ultraviolet light after treatment. Making daily sunscreen application part of your morning skincare regimen can also help maintain your Clear + Brilliant results by protecting your skin from UV damage.
What Activities Should I Avoid After Clear + Brilliant®?
We recommend staying in a cool, shaded environment to avoid overheating your skin and exposing it to the sun for the first week. During this time, it’s also best to refrain from strenuous exercise, sweating and swimming.
When Will I See My Results From Clear + Brilliant®?
You’ll notice visibly softer, brighter skin within one to two weeks after treatment.
How Long Do Clear + Brilliant® Results Last?
The skin resurfacing results of each treatment can last for months, and the stimulation of collagen generally lasts for three months. The longevity of your results will depend on your age, sun exposure, lifestyle and other factors that affect the quality of your skin and cellular turnover rate.
Can I Combine Other Cosmetic Treatments With Clear + Brilliant®?
To further enhance the results of your skin resurfacing treatment, we offer adjunctive TXA (tranexamic acid) as well as PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatments. TXA is a topical solution that can treat hyperpigmentation and melasma. PRP uses stem cells and growth factors from your blood to treat wrinkles and further improve your skin texture and tone.
