Skin discoloration is one of the most prevalent and impactful types of skin conditions. It is nearly impossible to treat or hide without professional help and can severely impact someone’s self-image.

And for a long time, patients only had options that provided subtle, incremental improvement to their skin discoloration.

But a fast, reliable solution has finally been developed by California Dermatology Care.

In only a short few years, it has become our most trusted solution for skin discoloration, helping hundreds of patients regain their confidence.

What Is LumaBright?

LumaBright is California Dermatology Care’s proprietary formula with added tranexamic acid.

The result is our most effective weapon against resistant melasma or facial pigmentation, with a patient satisfaction rate of 85% at four weeks.

Since introducing this unique treatment to our patients several years ago, we have performed hundreds of LumaBright treatments. It has found tremendous success with an array of different patient profiles.

How Does LumaBright Work?

The first component of LumaBright is the chemical peel, which uses two primary ingredients: vitamin A and arbutase in a creamy mask formula.

Both of which focus on penetrating the skin, treating discoloration and speeding up cellular turnover.

The first step of LumaBright is a mask performed by a medical professional, but a second at-home step is also required.

The second component, our proprietary tranexamic acid formula, packs a powerful one-two punch, and is added at the two-week mark.

It manages to block the transfer of pigmentation from melanocytes to keratinocytes in the skin.

To put it more simply — it stops new hyperpigmentation from developing.

Why Do We Need LumaBright?

Some people develop hyperpigmentation as they age or become pregnant, while others are born with congenital conditions that are difficult and cumbersome to treat.

Unfortunately, the need for a treatment like LumaBright derives from the difficulty of correcting hyperpigmentation. Chemical peels and other skin resurfacing techniques are often a patient’s only option.

Any cosmetic treatment is about making you feel confident and happy with your appearance. Knowing whether you need LumaBright (or any other) treatment is a personal decision.

If you feel empowered by your skin and beauty marks, then there is no need to consider it.

But if you are one of the countless people who often feel self-conscious about their skin conditions, it is good to know that you have an extremely reliable way to help restore that lost confidence.

What Does LumaBright Treat?

This treatment is primarily used to improve the texture and appearance of hyperpigmented skin and melasma, a condition that causes dark, discolored patches of skin.

While melasma is a wide-reaching condition, it is an especially common development in pregnant women. So common that it is often referred to as the “mask of pregnancy.”

In addition to melasma and brown spots, you can expect LumaBright to starkly improve:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Poor skin texture
  • Pore size
  • Dull complexions

Am I a Candidate for LumaBright?

LumaBright is a safe option for all skin types, regardless of skin tone or texture. It is also a particularly good treatment for patients with darker skin, who are often not candidates for other specific treatment types.

If you have a textural or discoloration condition you would like to improve, then you are probably a strong candidate for LumaBright.

But you must have realistic expectations early on in the process to avoid any feeling of disappointment from an otherwise successful treatment regimen.

How Should I Prepare for LumaBright?

As a nonsurgical, noninvasive procedure, you don’t need to worry about pre-op preparation for LumaBright treatment. However, we do recommend avoiding intense skincare applications and excessive sun exposure close to your treatment day.

LumaBright can also not be performed without prior cosmetic consultation with our office.

What Should I Expect from a LumaBright Procedure?

The first step of the LumaBright process is a thorough cleaning of the skin to remove topical contaminants. After that, the chemical peel is applied to the skin by one of our highly qualified staff members.

The entire application process takes about 20 minutes. Once thoroughly applied, you will be able to leave the office with the peel still on your face. Your physician will give you exact instructions about when to take it off.

The procedure has both an in-office and at-home component. You will be provided with a 30-day post-care kit that should be strictly followed to give the most improvement possible.

The routine generally consists of three morning and two night applications, making it a reasonably straightforward treatment plan.

On the third day of at-home treatment, you will have a follow-up appointment scheduled so that we can review your progress. Small adjustments may be made to your routine, and you will have additional follow-ups scheduled at two weeks and one month.

What Should I Expect During LumaBright Recovery?

You can generally expect to experience a week of redness, scaliness or light itchiness after your in-office LumaBright procedure. While it isn’t absolutely necessary, we generally recommend having a week of downtime scheduled to give the skin time to heal.

The at-home routine is much less intensive, so you can expect very few side effects.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect from LumaBright?

Incremental progress will happen day by day, but by the 30-day mark, you will be able to see a drastic overall improvement in discoloration and textural issues. The results you achieve will be long-lasting as long as you keep up with your skin maintenance routines.

We will partner with you to develop a treatment plan as soon as your LumaBright regimen is over by observing your unique skin conditions, reaction to the LumaBright treatment and medical history.

Can I Combine LumaBright with Other Procedures?

LumaBright can be combined it with several other types of facial treatments, such as:

RF Skin Tightening

A noninvasive skin tightening treatment that heats the dermal layers of skin on a deep level, stimulating collagen production and producing a more taut appearance.

Thread Lift

Another option for skin tightening that relies on creating more internal structure with insertable threads.

Dermal Fillers

If one of your concerns is a sunken appearance or fine lines and wrinkles, a dermal filler can treat various issues like nasolabial lines, marionette lines, tear troughs, and many, many more.

Neuromodulators

Botox and Dysport are the most common variants of this category of treatment, and they do wonders to prevent and correct the development of deep fine lines and wrinkles.

How Much Does LumaBright Cost?

LumaBright is different from other skin peel treatments, so its cost doesn’t always fall into the usual skin peel price range. Without doing a thorough examination of your conditions and reviewing your medical history, it is impossible to provide an accurate cost estimate.
